Welcome to our Porch,
Have a seat. We’re glad you came.
There is a distinct, comforting rhythm to life here in Rantoul. You can feel it in the quiet morning chatter over coffee, the bright lights on Friday night football fields, and the familiar wave from a neighbor passing by. Holding all of those moments together, stitching our individual stories into one shared community tale, is local news.
At Rantoul Beat Pages, we believe local storytelling is far more than words on a page or posts on a screen. It’s the lifeblood of our civic pride, our connection, and our mutual trust.
Honoring Our Roots, Keeping the Light On
For 145 years, the Rantoul Press served as the steady heartbeat of our town. From its origins in the 1870s through the peak operational years of Chanute Air Force Base and the town’s quiet resilience after its closure, the Press captured our triumphs, heartbreaks, local elections, and decades of warm memories. When it printed its final issue in September 2020, our community felt the loss deeply. It was the closing of a shared memory album generations of neighbors relied upon.
We are grateful the News Gazette continues to feature the Rantoul Press as their community focused section of the paper.
Your Virtual Town Square
Think of Rantoul Beat Pages as the digital equivalent of pulling up a comfortable porch chair to chat with a friend over a hot cup of coffee. In a digital world that often feels noisy and overwhelming, we want this space to feel like home—cozy, friendly, and welcoming to all.
